Flood Level UPDATE #19 at 1:30 pm Thursday December 31st, 2015.
Dear Residents:
We want to update you on several items:
- No decision has been made on the exact time we will lift the evacuation. We are watching water levels and coordinating with the authorities to make sure it is safe to return to the lower end. We hope to allow re-entry when the level recedes to 40 feet.
- 8th and Glover — Water continues to flow from 2 MSD inlets into the area around 8th and Glover. We are aware of backup issues as far away as Mission Hills subdivision and we suspect this is directly related to the MSD pump failure. City workers are devoting all resources to control the large amount of water coming up from MSD’s inlet. 2 pumps are currently operating sending water back over the levee. 4 more are being set up and another 4 are on the way. County Executive Steve Stenger has just left the lower end after spending a significant amount of time assessing the situation. Mr. Stenger, as well as his staff are personally involved in addressing and resolving the MSD issue asap. He and his staff have also toured other areas of the lower end and walked the levee.
- The water levels have dropped approximately a foot and the levee is sound.
I ask for your patience as we deal with the MSD issue that we are currently facing. Updates on our progress will be forthcoming.
Thank you,
Mayor Mike Pennise
