Purpose of the P & Z Board
The planning and zoning board is set up to review all site plans on commercial, industrial and new subdivisions in R1, R2 and R3. It also reviews all planned development zoned areas, conducts public hearings and has ordinances written to be given to the Board of Aldermen for approval or denial.
The first step in the process is for the developer/property owner to make an appointment to meet with the building commissioner to discuss the possible project to see if it would conform to the zoning area. After review, developer/property owner is given an application to fill out and submit with plans for review. If the plans are complete and conforms to zoning area, the property owner would be given a date to go in front of the Planning & Zoning Commission.
If the project is in a planned development area, the property owner would be advised of the public hearing requirements and the fees involved with the public hearing.
Meeting Location and Times
The committee meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the City Hall (320 Benton Street, Valley Park, MO).
