SANITATION LABORER

The City of Valley Park is currently accepting applications for one full-time Sanitation Laborer. The Sanitation Laborer is a non-exempt hourly position supervised by the Sanitation Supervisor and Public Works Director. This position plays a vital role in the efficient and safe collection and disposal of waste materials, recyclables, and yard waste.

The Sanitation Laborer will be required to collect and dump trash receptacles, collect bulk waste items, and assist with routine maintenance and inspections on garbage trucks to ensure proper functionality. This position requires regular attendance, frequently interacts with the public, and is expected to behave with the highest standards of professionalism. This position mainly works outdoors in all types of weather including heat, rain, and snow.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Missouri Driver’s License, and physical stamina and strength to repeatedly lift heavy trash receptacles. The Sanitation Laborer is expected to have strong adherence to safety protocols and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Additional desired qualifications include a Class B Commercial Driver’s License and one year of experience working in a similar capacity.

The pay range for this position starts at $19.33 per hour, but applicants with similar experience can expect to earn $20.30 per hour or more.
