NOTICE OF FILING PERIOD FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTION

A General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Valley Park on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. To be listed on the ballot, candidates must file their intent to run for office with the Office of the City Administrator at Valley Park City Hall. The filing period opens at 8:00 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 and closes at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. City Hall will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023 and may be closed for severe weather during the filing period.

There is a $25 filing fee per candidate. The following offices will be on the ballot:

Pursuant to Section 110.120 of the Municipal Cde of the City of Valley Park, no person shall be an Alderman unless he/she is at least eighteen (18) years of age, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the City for one (1) year next preceding his/her election, and a resident of the ward from which he/she is elected.

Pursuant to Section 110.020 of the Municipal Code of the City of Valley Park, no person shall be Mayor unless he/she be at least twenty-five (25) years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City at the time of and for at least one (1) year next preceding his/her election.

Each candidate will be required to complete and return Form 5120 – Candidate’s Affidavit of Tax Payments and Bonding Requirements that states the candidate is not delinquent in the filing or paying of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, or real property taxes at their place of residence. For more information, please review Section 115.306 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. A failure to comply may disqualify a candidate from the ballot.
